This popped up on my screen and it was a funny meme (buy the way if you have not watched breaking bad yet you are in for a treat), but I came back to it thinking about all the jobs that individuals may have taken to make ends meet during the lockdown, I’m not talking about people who may have started doing extra pizza deliveries , but single parents who may have started prostitution, or selling small amounts of drugs to friends and colleagues they are having to move into a black market and face jail time for trying to make ends meet. The lockdown was all about flattening the curve to avoid public services being overwhelmed – which is understandable but let’s not forget that there secondary consequences to all of this too. Which might not be felt directly or seen in the daily/weekly deaths numbers. But they are there and we should keep that in mind too when it comes to opening up the economy.
